The XIII Jornadas de Economía Laboral-Labour Economics Meeting was held in Islantilla (Huelva) from June 12 to 14, 2019. The meeting counted with nearly 100 participants from various European universities and institutions that submitted more than 80 communications, continuing the opening trend that started previous meetings.

The academic meeting began with an econometrics course on decomposition methods taught by Pedro Raposo (Universidade Católica Lisboa), Hugo Reis (Banco de Portugal & Universidade Católica Lisboa) and Paulo M.M. Rodrigues (Bank of Portugal & Universidade Nova SBE). During the conference, there were four plenary lectures given by Catalina Amuedo-Dorantes (San Diego State, US, CReAM, FEDEA & IZA), Juan Francisco Jimeno (Bank of Spain, IZA), Frank M. Fossen (University of Nevada & IZA) and Pedro Portugal (Banco de Portugal and Universidade Nova de Lisboa).

There were also two special sessions: a session related to the new challenges for statistical agencies, which had the collaboration of the Institute of Statistics of Andalucía, and a session on self-employment promoted by the Regional Ministry of Employment, Training and Autonomous Work of the Junta de Andalucía.

As usual, at the gala dinner the Lluís Fina Prize was awarded to the best research article and the Luis Toharia Scholarships were awarded to young researchers.
